A Packed Bed Scrubber is a wet air pollution control system designed to remove gaseous pollutants and soluble contaminants from industrial exhaust streams. It uses a vertical tower filled with packing material, over which scrubbing liquid flows. As contaminated gas passes upward through the packing, pollutants are absorbed into the liquid, leaving clean air behind.

how it works
- Step 1:Gas Inlet
- Polluted gas enters the bottom of the scrubber.
- Step 2: Packed Section
- The tower is filled with structured or random packing that maximizes surface area.
- Step 3: Liquid Distribution
- Scrubbing liquid (often water or chemical solution) is sprayed from the top, coating the packing.
- Step 4:Gas-Liquid Contact
- As gas flows upward, contaminants dissolve or react with the liquid.
- Step 5: Clean Gas
- Purified air exits at the top, while the liquid collects at the bottom for treatment or recirculation.
